Kaatsu is the best and safest device for Blood Flow restriction Training Therapy BFR.
Kaatsu for Blood Flow Restriction and beyond
KAATSU® is a safe and effective form of exercise, rehabilitation and recovery invented in Japan in 1966 by Prof.MD Yoshiaki Sato.
Patented pneumatic equipment enables your arms and legs to modify venous flow which leads to a cascade of positive physiological effects. In 1994 the first scientific papers and the Kaatsu specialist certification program were launched. Until 2014 Kaatsu was only accessible for people living in Japan. The first Kaatsu devices were big like a briefcase and only used under the supervision of a Kaatsu Specialist trained by the inventor. Nowadays the Kaatsu devices have compact size, available for anyone around the world without the need of supervision. Leading the Blood Flow Restriction market new Kaatsu features like data sharing enabled between professionals- clients or wireless compressors are once again an innovation in Health and Sports field.
The extensive research and the accuracy of the devises makes Kaatsu the safest and best device of BFR blood flow restriction training and therapy.
KAATSU is the Original BFR (Blood Flow Restriction), the fastest emerging physical therapy and performance modality in the United States.
Academic institutions of top level support Kaatsu with decades of extensive research. This research has been conducted in and outside of Japan.

Specific protocols and patented procedures have been created in sports, exercise, rehabilitation and wellness activities both in the water and on land.
Users from all walks of life and conditions are counted in 49 countries. Kaatsu has a lot of users from young Athletes to Elder people.
KAATSU BFR VS NON KAATSU BFR
BFR Training or Blood Flow Restriction Training is known as Kaatsu.
Furthermore the KAATSU Air Bands are known as BFR or Blood Flow Restriction Bands.
Responses in order to optimise muscle hypertrophy and rehabilitation of muscle, bone, tendon, and ligament injuries need specific engineering. This differs the Kaatsu BFR with Non Kaatsu BFR products. The KAATSU Air Bands are engineered to measure pressure much more precisely than other products while they have the patented Cycle mode.
KAATSU Global offers an online KAATSU Education Program and a KAATSUfit mobile app for its proprietary BFR Training Program. The program and app offer hundreds of different types of BFR Workouts that can be used for muscle hypertrophy, muscle toning, bone and connective tissue rehabilitation, and muscle recovery.
Kaatsu is not just an ordinary BFR device

KAATSU is the only device for Blood Flow Restriction Training / Therapy that was tested on 7,000+ cardiac rehab patients under the guidance of cardiologists at the University of Tokyo Hospitals over a 10-year period that identified the importance of safely modifying venous blood flow and not occluding arterial blood flow.
As the Pioneer of Blood Flow Restriction method (BFR) the Kaatsu Patented equipment is the only BFR equipment on the market which is specifically designed not to do full Occlusion (stop) of Arterial Blood Flow after long research.
Kaatsu is one of the longest research subject with nearly 40 years of research started by Professor MD Yoshiaki Sato back in 1966.
Nowadays more and more Universities and Institutes have understood the potential outcome of Kaatsu in Rehabilitation, Recovery, Performance, Longevity.
Kaatsu Global Inc. is helping Universities and Institutes around the world by educating and sharing it’ s experience in the emerging sector of Blood Flow Restriction.
Professor MD Yoshiaki Sato’s view is to enable KAATSU with safety for everyone for all walks of life. After long research we patented our products and methods in order to avoid users from wrong use or getting misled by Non Kaatsu BFR byproducts.
KAATSU Cycle Mode
The Evolution of BFR
Automated Pressure On/Off
Specifically engineered materials
Safe for all walks of life
Kaatsu Cycle Mode
› The KAATSU Cycle Mode is an automated, repeated pressure sequence that allows users to customise both the duration and precise amount of pressure.
How does the Cycle mode work?
› In this mode, the pneumatic AirbBands apply repeated and progressive periods of compression and decompression on your arms or legs.
› Stretchable Material for BFR
The AirBands are designed to reduce venous flow (blood flow back to the torso). The Bands do not occlude arterial flow (blood flow to the limbs). This is very different from blood pressure cuffs that are specifically designed to occlude (cut off) blood flow to the limbs.
› Patented BFR Width
The Width of Kaatsu BFR AirBands is also much different than a blood pressure cuff or a Non Kaatsu BFR band (i.e., it avoids arterial flow occlusion).
› Unique BFR Function
Kaatsu BFR AirBands include baffles and a stretchable air bladder that inflates uniformly and towards the limb, precisely controlled by the KAATSU monitoring units (e.g., KAATSU B2,C4).
› Maximum BFR Safety
Kaatsu BFR AirBands can be immediately deflated by either pushing buttons on the monitoring units, depressing the value on the connectors, or releasing the Velcro on the AirBands.
› Safe For All Ages
Kaatsu BFR AirBands and Devices including the whole Kaatsu Method are specifically designed and engineered to follow the 35 year research of Dr. Sato and the Japanese team.
Which Kaatsu devices have the Cycle mode and what functions?
All the Kaatsu devices have pre- installed the Cycle mode.
› 6 standard KAATSU Cycle pressure presets with consecutive KAATSU Cycle function up to 30 minutes.
› Customisable KAATSU Cycle, Progressive, Reverse, and Constant pressures.
› Protocols based on 3 decades of clinical evidence and academic research with dual- and single-limb applications (ideal for amputees or disabled individuals).
› Proprietary algorithms based on 28 years of research and clinical testing tested safely and effectively with people as old as 104 years.
Is the Cycle mode safe?
› This distinct, patented feature of KAATSU maximises safety and effectiveness for all users and purposes, with both active and passive use.
› Users above 50 years old are recommended to use only the Cycle mode and not the Constant mode.
When to use the Cycle mode?
KAATSU Cycle Mode can be used during exercise, household activities, or at rest anywhere, anytime.
Furthermore the Cycle Mode is beneficial during warm-ups, Recovery from vigorous exercise, Rehabilitation of injuries, and for all aspects of athletic Performance.
What are the benefits of Cycle mode?
› The Healing aspect is the most important benefit of the Cycle mode.
› It’s mandatory to use Kaatsu Cycle in Low Pressure for warm up of the Vascular system before using Constant Pressures
When was the Cycle mode invented?
› The Kaatsu Cycle mode was invented in 1973.
› Military personnel including special forces
› Physicians from orthopaedic surgeons to podiatrists
› Physical and occupational therapists
› Olympic, professional, collegiate, high school, club sports teams
› University athletic departments
› Amputees, quadriplegics, paraplegics
› Individuals with cerebral palsy, MS, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis
KAATSU Constant Mode
The Old Kaatsu BFR method
Kaatsu Constant Mode
› The KAATSU Constant Mode utilises sustained pressure in the KAATSU Air Bands that can be set to either preset or customised pressure levels.
› The Kaatsu Protocols for Constant mode are very strict and must be followed at all times during the use.
When in use always follow the strict Protocols
When to use the Constant mode?
› The KAATSU Constant Mode was typically used for: Intense workouts, complex athletic movements, and aqua use.
› Due to Restrictions of the Kaatsu devices that aren’t waterproof the constant mode can be used with the AirBands untethered from the Kaatsu device for Young Swimmers. (only C3 and C4 models)
The new scientific findings are that the use of Cycle mode is way more beneficial than the old Constant mode.
› For all the users of all walks of life and activity level we recommend the use of Cycle mode.
Is the Constant mode safe?
› Specific Protocols where used while KAATSU was tested on 7,000+ cardiac rehab patients under the guidance of cardiologists at the University of Tokyo Hospitals.
› That was a 10-year period that identified the importance of safely modifying venous blood flow and not occluding arterial blood flow.
› All users that used Constant mode started their sessions every time with Cycle mode for warm up of the Vascular system as part of the Kaatsu Method.
› Users above 50 years old are recommended to use only the Cycle mode and not the Constant mode.
Is the Constant mode similar to BFR Non Kaatsu byproducts?
› The KAATSU Constant Mode pioneered Blood Flow Restriction ( BFR ) training where sustained pressure is applied to the arms or legs leads to systemic effects throughout the body.
To utilise with safety the Constant mode 5 things are important to be strictly followed
› AirBands Elasticity
› Airbands Width
› Gradually warm up of Vascular system with Cycle mode
› Strict follow of Protocol the Constant Pressure Timings
› Correct Placement of the AirBands
Claims that describe Kaatsu Constant mode similar to Non Kaatsu BFR Products are false.
According to Kaatsu Protocols for Safety it’s mandatory to use Kaatsu Cycle always in Low Pressure for warm up of the Vascular system before using Constant Pressures.
The AirBands must feel confortable at all time
When was the Constant mode invented?
› The Kaatsu constant mode was invented in 1966.
› Only for young athletes
› Young Swimmers
The new scientific findings are that the use of Cycle mode is way more beneficial than the old Constant mode in terms of increasing Performance.
